不太理解ls所谓的“数字对应thermometer的数字”；

还有，ls说can和possibly的替换是大问题，这两个词有那么大的区别吗？

can 替换成possilbe是一个很严重的错误。

我认为这种省略的说法有些牵强；而且即使是省略，意思也不通：叫的次数起到了温度计的数字的作用。我持保留意见。显然，E的意思合乎逻辑，叫的次数随温度变化，这一点能起到温度计的作用。

另外，can和possibly的替换是个严重错误，能否请楼上举个例子啊？我印象中，好像有一题是can和possibly同时出现，然后，解释中说语义重复之类。并没有说两次替换是严重错误。我在Prep Note中找到一题是possibly和might替换，仅供参考：

D的it逻辑没有错.正因为it是 主语, 这里才不适合用分词结构.

E. to attract females rises and falls in accordance with the surrounding temperature, in fact possibly serving

and 前后两句话是完全并列的关系.前半句从cricket的角度说, 后半句是从人的角度说的.serving 和前面的动词没有伴随状态或结果可言.

serve是由前面这句句子发出的。是“叫声随着温度变化”这个现象serve；

但是，如果把it理解成指代cricket倒还解释得通；不过it似乎不能指代介词短语中的成分吧。

2.不是"叫声随着温度变化现象这个现象",而是the number... 可以 in fact serve as as an approximate thermometer. 现象本身能体现出温度的变化进而被当做温度计嘛? 是the number....可以被(人)当做温度计因为it 随温度变化. 比方说(unjustifiable ), 30度叫20下/每分钟, 25度叫30下/每分钟.

D选项中的it我觉得指代number没有问题，叫声的数量多少作为大气测量表，是没问题的，而不是说现象可以作为测量表，我觉得测量表应该是一种可以变化的数字，即可以变化的幅度才能成表，而不是一个迹象。

这道题很变态的地方是出题者故意混淆分词和代词的考点，以往这种情况都应该选择分词的。但这里选择分词逻辑不对，而且Can和possibly的区别很明显，can是表示一种能力，possibly表示一种可能行。
