请教一个问题关于哥伦比亚大学的early decision

请问哥伦比亚大学的early decision如果在截止日10月初递交申请，如果成功的话，一般多快能够发出offer？正在考虑是申请early decision好，还是regular的好。——虽然不知道成功与否，但是准备工作还得做。谢谢！

哥大的主页上有这样的话——

Early Decision candidates who are offered admission have up to three weeks to submit their nonrefundable $6,000 deposit. Applicants who are not yet ready for this level of commitment are encouraged to apply for Regular Decision.

LindaCBS: Applications are reviewed prior to interviews and the timing will vary. Applicants will receive their final decisions within eight weeks for January, 10 weeks for ED, and 12 weeks for regular decision.
