以下为旧的笔试题：
1. some surveys on the use of graphics in business presentations indicate that proposals incorporating graphics stand (a twenty percent better chance of being approved than proposals)without graphics.

答案是A，我奇怪A在than后面的谓语去哪里了。要么就是因为likelihood用more 修饰更荒唐

2. A pattern of accidents, of personnel problems, and of low performance ratings for mechanical systems (have marked the servicing and maintaining) of the new power plant.
A.
C. have marked the service and maintenance
D. has marked the service and maintaining
E. has marked the serviceing and maintenance
选E，为什么D就不行呢，他们都没有平行地用名次或动名词啊。还有，a ... of ... 在什么情况下做负数，什么情况下做单数用啊，不是a kind of ...s就当复数吗

3. were the ice of Greenland and Antarctica to melt, the sea level would rise at least 100 feet.
A.
C If the ice of G and A was melting, the sea level would rise at least 100 feet
答案是A，但是为什么用复数呢？

1. 典型的比较题. GMAT是要求最好的答案. 如果其它选项和A相同但是有than do,那么那个选项就更好. 但是这中情况一般不会出现, 因为此题中A完全正确. 为什么?

首先你要了解为什么要加do. GMAT中补出助动词或系动词和介词一般是为了避免歧义. 有一道真题大意是: Eskimos in XXX are more isolated from Europeans than other eskimos. 这里就存在歧义,是XXX的eskimo与european的隔离更甚与他们与其他eskimo的隔离, 还是XXX的eskimo与european的隔离甚与其他eskimo与european的隔离. 两个意思截然不同, 如果不补出助动词或介词, 意思不明. 所以原句变为:Eskimos in XXX are more isolated from Europeans than are other eskimos. 当然也可以改为:Eskimos in XXX are more isolated from Europeans than from other eskimos. 也没有歧义. 但是要根据原文的意思来选. 一般ETS不会同时给出这两个选项.

A不存在这类歧义, 所以无须补出do. 你好好体会一下.

2. a pattern of ...s的中心词是pattern, 所以用单数. a kind of ...s用复数是因为中心词是后面的复数名词. 但是a kind of是否一定是复数, 希望其他人补充

3. 虚拟语气, 请参考语法书.

我就说说第二个题目，其他的mindfree已经讲得很清楚了。
has marked the serviceing and maintenance 这是个并列 servicing 和maintenance 这里都是名词；而在D中maintaining是不可以做名词的；并且，这个已经考到了小词的一些区别：service做名词的时候没有“维修”的意思，而servicing 就可以做名词表示“维修”。
这个题目已经有了一定的难度。

多谢两位，第三题问得有点愚蠢。但是我对如第二提那样得中心词得判定还是把握不了。
