A star will compress itself into a white dwarf,a neutron star, or a black hole after it passes through a red giant stage,depending on mass.

D)Mass determines whether a star,after passing throgh the red giant stage, will compress itself into a white dwarf, a neutron star,or a black hole.

E)The mass of a star,after passing through the red giant stage,will determine whether it compresses itself into a white dwarf, a neturon star,or a black hole.

这道题目答案是D，我选择的是E，我不知道DE区别是什么？为什么不选E呢？

我觉得E有几个问题

1）it, itself指代不清，mass还是star?

2) The mass will determine... 语法不对，这里不需要将来时，而star will compass itself into ...逻辑上是通顺的，星星在未来把自己压缩成白矮星，中子星，黑洞。（而这时的星星依然是星星，我们可以说太阳有朝一日也会变成这三种星中的一个，但这是将来的事）但这一切是由mass决定的，这是一个客观真理，一般现在时就可以了

3) after passing ... 究竟形容Mass还是star，也有点混淆，不妥

D选项因为是宾语从句，所以后面的句子、插入语就老实呆在从句的某个成分上了，不容易引起歧义。
