我碰到了好几道关于willVSwould的题，在这放在一起，希望大家能帮助～
If current trends continue, by the year 2010 carbon emissions in the United States will soar to a level more than one-third higher than were those in 1990, according to official projections.
(A) will soar to a level more than one-third higher than were those
(B) will soar to a level more than one-third higher than that
(C) would soar to a level more than one-third higher than it was

为什么是B will 不是would呢？即使条件状语从句也可以是would 呀，比如说下一题,这两句都假设了一个未来的状态啊。。。
OG-12正确答案就是：
Rising inventories, If not accompanied by corresponding increases in sales, can lead to production cutbacks that would hamper economic growth.

别的题也是would 呀，比如
老PREP 47
Those skeptical of the extent of global warming argue that short-term temperature data are an inadequate means of predicting long-term trends and point out that the scientific community remains divided over whether significant warming will occur and what impact it would have

thanks...

OG 12 16 上就解释would说look to the future but are not yet realized.我认为挺贴切的。那为什么上一道要是will呢？

我记得OG12上对于if从句，如果if后面是现在时，那么后面的句子一定是will。相当于固定搭配了吧。我记得OG12里没有不是这样的搭配。如果再加一个would，就是double 虚拟，更加remote了。OG12中很明确的说过这个，但实在找不到是那个题了，不好意思。

that would hamper...是作为定语从句修饰cutback，只是讲将来可能发生的事情，只能用would

what impact will it have if it does－－相对于E的虚拟，这个太罗嗦，就是wordy。在明确表达的情况下，有些从句能不用就不用。我感觉这就是为什么名词＋ that ＋be ＋形容词几乎都是错误选项，因为可以用形容词＋名词表达。

浅见，大家讨论。

Rising inventories, If not accompanied by corresponding increases in sales, can lead 。。。即使would对了can也好奇怪，因为If not accompanied by在这里可以改为If they are not accompnied by...,所以也是现在时，那么后面那个can也不符合条件句用will的标准啊。。。

还有，再想请教如何看待Those skeptical of the extent of global warming argue that short-term temperature data are an inadequate means of predicting long-term trends and point out that the scientific community remains divided over whether significant warming will occur and what impact it would have。
这句will和would同时出现的状况？

我觉得只要can和will对题目没有影响，就不用考虑。不是说有了if does，就一定要有will。只是不能有would。

whether已经是不确定了，再加一个would又是double 不确定了。
