I personally think there is no big difference between far less and much less.

the biggest problem is distinguishi a from b, rather than distinguish a and b.

同意. 而且指出一点, 如果把注意力放在far less和much less上的话, 这道题就看偏了. ETS在考你两点
1)distinguish ... from这个idiom,
2) 平行结构. 句子前面出现过一个类似的结构 (differentiate a good debenture from an undesirable one).

难一点的改错题好象都至少有两个考点. 请大家验证.

补充:
有人可能说考点不止两个 - expert in 是一个idiom, 而far less expert when it comes to..不简洁, 等等. 这样就难说了, GMAT针对的是掌握了高级英语的考生, expert in 应该不是考察的内容了. 但是, 对750 分以上的大N们来讲, 所有SC中的考点不是都不成为考点了吗. 晚上睡不着, 有点困惑了.
