第一段           : 提出观点, 两个都重要

第二段           : 论述understanding idears or concepts重要性

第三段           : on the other hand, learning facts 也重要

第四段           : 如果没有了learning facts 会导致****后果

第五段           : 总结

In my views, learning facts is as important as understanding ideas and concepts for students.

Ideas or concepts are abstracted from the facts and coincide rules of most facts. The former is abstract and the later is concrete. Ideas or concepts help students understand the facts more comprehensively and even predict the development of the facts. If a student understand the 3rd Newton laws and is given initial speed of a ball, she/he can calculate its  speed on the next minute; if blood type of the parents are provided, the blood type of their child can be predicted. Without concepts and ideas, a subject can never regards as science.So understanding ideas or concepts is basic for students.

On the other hand, concepts or ideas can’t summarize all facts, even if  in accordance with a majority of the facts. Many facts can’t be explained by current concepts. Learning facts help students master knowledge more comprehensively, especially for those humanities---history, society, physiology and so on. No laws of these subjects can explain all facts. Can any historian assure  his/her prediction about sth. happened in ancient Rome, even if he/she understand many concepts and ideas?

In addition, Ignoring the importance of learning facts may cause  students to take the content of textbooks for granted and ignore the practices. When students graduate from school , they will face the society in which different facts interacted with each other intricately. It is difficult to adapt to the environment for a student who only took importance on concepts and ideas before. I believe that it is necessary to encourage students to learn facts besides understand ideas and concepts.

In my opinion, understanding ideas/concepts and learning facts are two indivisible parts for education. Both of them should be paid great attentions to. Without ideas or concepts , facts can’t be understood systematically; without facts, ideas or concepts will be castles in the air.
