我的理解是可数名词,后面是复数,所以用number.就像你只能用the number of people,不能用amount一样.句子结构,a means是并列成份咯,in order to插入表目的咯.

stimuli是stimulus的复数名词;Oxford字典里说:amount多与不可数名词连用~~

不过我没看出来stimuli是可数名词...,心想"刺激"总是不可数吧...
