答案是D，没问题。
排除A，B时，只是觉得would不爽，但是找不到理论上的支持，请教牛牛

同意。WOULD用在这里是不怎么好。
D选项就是ETS非常喜欢的
B will do if A happens.
搭配。

又发现一个问题：先补充一下该题目的选项
(C) should fail if the timber wolf density in that region was greater than
(E) will fail if the timber wolf density in that region were more numerous than

这里的the timber wolf density 肯定是错的，应该是the density of the timber wolf population 。前面有类似的问题，如大全2

这里的B，C选项中the phosphate amount 肯定也是错的。

当时有个牛人指点说：牛人指点：the phosphate amount 这种修饰是不清晰的，ETS一象是这样认为的，比如说the population change就不行，the change in population是可以的

那么是不是可以这么认为，在ETS的SC中，名词修饰名词不可以接受呢？？？？

我觉得

至少象 population, amount, density 一类的名词不能由其它名词直接修饰

而要用 the population/ amount /density of + 其它名词

a species of large crab 优于 a large crab species

(a large crab species 有歧义: large 修饰 crab or species)

窃以为不是would不爽，要用其实would也可以，只是后面的is要改成were，虚拟语气。当然will。。。is也是最普通的形式，但是这个地方千万不能出现would。。is，或者will。。was之类的不伦不类的形式。一点浅见，请赐教
