我的看法和破解版的注释有点不一样：

A: 若第二个were做主句并列谓语，即出现重复，且两个谓语间没有连词连接；若were做each的谓语中间没有插入成份，were不应和each主语用逗号隔开；each紧跟rooms应为svo, each +doing/done/adj/prep/n（ets的preference）的独立主格结构，后面不应有were且更不应有逗号。

B: correct，在of短语前使用逗号避免直接跟在structures后修饰structures；each有副词代词等词性，此处做代词指代settlements，因为虽然逻辑上可以指代structures，但原文显然是指每个settlement规模达到某个程度的逻辑意思，为each＋介词短语的独立主格结构的倒置变形，变形的原因也是为了避免语法上作为structures的独立主格结构；根据connected分词后面的regional system of roads，确定connected只能修饰句子主语settlements

C: 第二个of修饰Structures不对，应该修饰scale；each同位语从句用过去完成时没必要，同位语从句中名词的数可与其修饰对象不一致，但时态如无明显根据应该对应主句。

D: 第二个of修饰Structures不对，应该修饰scale；and with each可以和scale后的of短语做介词短语做后置定语修饰scale功能平行，但each非名词无法和with构成介词短语。

E: 第二个of修饰Structures不对，应该修饰scale；each后面是完整句子但没有连词

注意：

1、The Anasazi settlements at Chaco Canyon were built on a spectacular scale of up to 600 rooms each, connected by a complex regional system of roads. each指The Anasazi settlements，而不是rooms或者structures！

原句改写为：Connected by a complex regional system of roads，the Anasazi settlements at Chaco Canyon，each of up to 600 rooms，were built on a spectacular scale with more than 75 carefully engineered structures.就最清晰了。

2、介词的修饰对象、插入语、逗号+过去分词的用途及修饰对象：of up to 600 rooms each前加逗号，排除直接修饰structures的可能，因而也使each顺理成章地修饰structures之前唯一的复数名词settlements，逻辑意思更加合理。

each指代settlements没错

of up to 600 rooms each,意思是在每个settlement最多600 rooms 当中,修饰 more than 75 carefully engineered structures
