With the process of modernization and urbanization, a myriad of people are flushing into big cities. On the other hand, numerous people leave the big cities and settle in small town. The above phenomenon gives rise to a hot issue which place, big city or small town, is suitable to live in. Different people might have different answers due to their distinct backgrounds and special interests. As for me, I prefer to live in a big city for the fact that big city, by and large, could provide more opportunities to achieve career success and enjoy colorful life.

Obviously, big cities, compared with small towns, provide more opportunities to achieve great success, which is attractive for people, especially for young people. No doubt large corporations prefer to invest in big cities rather than small towns, which provide more qualified employment openings available to citizens in big cities. Working in large corporations allows citizens of big cities to receive precious professional training, which is significant for people to achieve success in future career life. Additionally, the employee in large corporations, by and large, could receive higher salary and higher salary virtually has become one of the most important symbols of success. In short, people in a big city have more chances to achieve a successful career life.

To such a paramount reason, another must be added. Big cities have more facilities and recreational sites, which could facilitate and enrich daily life of citizens. For example, it is convenient for citizens of big cities to buy kinds of commodity in a supermarket. In contrast, in small towns, the commodity is often limited and could hardly satisfy the demand of resident. It is not rare to find that some people living in small town go to big cities to buy things in their spare time. Additionally, there are a multitude kind of recreational facilities in big cities, such as museum, cinemas, theatre, and so forth. These recreational facilities enrich citizens’ daily life and help them release pressure and relax themselves.

Admittedly, living in big city also has certain disadvantage. For example, citizens in big city usually suffer from polluted air and water, traffic jam, etc. In contrast, resident in small town could enjoy fresh air, clean water as well as quiet atmosphere. However, these problems could be, to some extent, solved only if certain proper strategy could be carried out. For example, new strict environment laws might reduce the pollution on environment.

To sum up, taking all the factors into account, I could safely conclude that I prefer to live in a big city, since the big city could help me to achieve brilliant success in career as well as to live a colorful life.
