1. that screens -- sounds like a verb., if it is, grammar mistake le; "which means" alwayz + obj.; it cannot stay alone or with "the commar that..."

2. 'which', usually refers to the Obj. (the cities or the states) here; if you picked up D, it was defintely incorrect -- two setences stayed together without anything in between...; B sounds stupid but it is okay in grammar. Think it in a TOEFL way and you'll feel better.

Perhaps I am wrong in A1.

记得XDF总结出来,前面一个句子的影响,一个方式是新名词,一个是ING 形式! 而D项就是用名词 B 中用and the .....and比较费解!!

Redo your grammar...I dun either noe or care what XDF said but check out a grammar book besides you. ING in certain case's fine but two verbs never stay together in their orginal forms without 'and, or, but', sth like dat.

Well, 'And the' cannot be more correct here, even tho it sounds weird and we have million other better ways to write it.

no problem...XDF isnt alwayz correct, so that you should check out some grammar handbook whenever you meet conflicts

I was in the GRE class this summer and they made quite a lot of mistakes.
