Yes MIS phd job market is not good in recent 5 years. You can search a paper posted by cometqq one year ago in this board. I remember there is a chart to show the demand-supply gap of MIS PHDs. And MIS phd program is always small (1-2 student a year) and not every business school offers MIS phd. You can also read aisworld.org. I remember there is a salary survey of fresh MIS HD graduates every year. Now new MIS phds normally get a little less than 100k on average. After you know all of these facts, you can think again about your phd application. On the other hand, I want to remind you that MIS PHD job market used to be very very good before 2000, and what matters to you is only the job market after 5 years. As it is hard to make prediction, I think you should consider more about your interest, your strength, your opportunity cost...etc |
