Fiction or non-fiction, which one do you prefer?

Fiction or non-fiction? It seems to be a hard decision for many people, since both of them are valuable books to read. Different people will have distinct decisions. Some people would like to read fiction since its plot is usually fascinated and attracted, while some hold the opposite view that non-fiction would provide knowledge to people. However, in my opinion, both of these kinds are valuable books to read.

On one hand, fiction inspires people to think. For example, one of my favorite fictions, Henry Potter, can make people think creatively. Its plot is pretty magical, which makes it popular in near fifty countries. According to a survey, a majority of adult readers respond that they seem to fly back to their happy childhood after reading it. Perhaps, someone will think this is ridiculer and we are living in a real world without so-called magic. However, can these people defy that there is childishness in everyone’s heart? It is Henry Potter that arouses the innocence of the readers who once considered this world is just black and white rather than full of color. Therefore, fiction's great power can not be discovered until people finish reading it, which provides people chance to image.

On the other hand, non-fiction reviews something we don't know in the past. Compared to the human history, people are living in such a short period. Without reading the histories, we don't know what happened and what people did in the past. Perhaps, someone would raise the issue that why people should look into the past. Reason is simple. To paraphrase one's famous words "people need to learn from the past". All the achievements we gain nowadays are built on the foundation of the past. If people do not learn from history, we would not have such a prosperous society. Reading non-fiction just gives people a way to learn from the valuable past, not only the lessons of the former people but also the thinking of them. Consequently, non-fiction can not be neglected.

In sum, because interesting novels and stories encourage people image creatively while histories and biographies make them think seriously, both of these kinds worth people reading.
