毫无疑问选E，但是不知道render是什么意思，为什么后面还要加个形容词呢？只有副词才可以修饰动词啊，如果是修饰后面的名词，为什么中间要加个the呢

metabolize the chemical irritant这本身是一个完整的意思

render harmless是对metabolize的补充，他们是并列关系，就是说即使吸收不了也得把那些物质整的没威胁。那些物质就是指的dioxin
