2006.12.15 Do you agree with the statement that it is better to have intelligent friends than friends with a good sense of humor?
People are accompanied by different friends from time to time, who are an essential part of daily life. Among so many traits a friend could harness, like intelligence or humor, I would definitely choose a humorous person as my friend.
As is often the case, a humorous friend is much more easy-going than a intelligent one. Although the intelligent person may act as a good consultant when others come across certain tough problems, he also may be a very cunning one. That is to say, an intelligent friend may get close to someone for certain unknown purpose. On the contrary, people can usually lay their credits on a humorous friend, for their extroverted characteristics as well as not caring about trifles. Consequently, one tends to exchange the feelings deep inside with a humorous friend.
It is well-known that friends are the people who delight you when you are frustrated, and help you to discard the annoyances. It's terrible to imagine that people still raise their brown and keep thinking about things related to work or study when they are crowded by friends. All too often, the intelligent friends make people think, while the humorous ones keep telling jokes and bring the relaxing atmosphere. I have a bunch of friends like that. When encountering some obstacles in life, I would choose to go to a bar with them, and get involved in the easy atmosphere they create, forgetting the troubles temporally, and get restart after the leisure time. It has been proved a marvelous way to fresh my minds.
Moreover, it is not surprising that a humorous friend may change other's outlook towards life. Take one of my experiences as an example. I once was a negative and introverted girl. Unfortunately, most friends around me are almost the same category, worrying about various things all day long, the grades, the future, the competition we face and so on so forth. The whole thing converted after Ma step into my life. I find so much fun about life, surprising at the great amount of beautiful things besides the troubles, which makes me long for the different changes everyday. She enriched my life with her big smile and fresh experience she brings. Now I keep optimistic to life.
If possible, it would be better to have both kinds of friends. You can ask for advice from the intelligent ones, but remember to keep intimate with the humorous ones. Whatever, it is most important to experience happy life with friends.
