"冒号"后跟什么?

请问冒号后有没有语法规定:一定要跟句子,短语,或是无所谓?

偶的理解：可以跟几个并列的名词，或并列的分词短语，或者一个独立的句子。

但是不可以“跟且仅跟”which,that，when等引导词引导的从句，像下例中的C，D选项。

也不可以“跟且仅跟”一个介词短语，像下例中的E选项。
