E变成would have to know a great deal 与now做比较了逻辑意思上不对。

比较从句中的主谓结构和主句的主谓结构相同可以省略,只保留作状语的介词短语或状语从句

now既不做状语也不是介词短语，省略了主语和谓语改变了比较对象！

看这题我花了1分多钟才选D，而且还对选的答案没有很大的信心...总是体会不到NN们的境界。

eg：sb do sth more than they did in the past

但是部能说

sb do sth more than past
