181 In your country, is there more need for land to be left in its natural condition or is there more need for land to be developed for housing and industry? 456 words/30 min As we all know, resources, like land, oil, coal and so on, are perpetually scarce compared to the infinite need of the human beings; therefore it is necessary for us to allot the resources reasonably. In order to exploit them in an economical way, we should first examine the reality of a country and then allot the resources according to the need of a country. In my country, China, there is more need for land to be developed for housing and industry. I reach this conclusion in view of the economic condition and the life quality of people. Being a developing country, China is in great need of land for construction and industry. As we all know, the growth of China is largely depend on the investment and exportation. How can we attract the financial flows from both the domestic and foreign investors if we don't have the basic infrastructure? How can we gain the profit through the exportation if we don't have factories to produce enough manufactures? Therefore, in order to maintain the rapid economic growth, we should first try our utmost to develop the land for infrastructure and industry. In addition to the need for construction and industry, there is even more need for housing in China. As a matter of fact, the problem of housing is big headache both to the government and to the people. China has the largest population in the world, and therefore the need for housing is tremendous accordingly. If we cannot develop adequate land for housing, a large number of the population will have no shelters, not to mention improving the life quality! Moreover, even in big cities like Shanghai, there are a large proportion of people whose house is so small that it can only be called a "cell". These people cannot afford to buy a decent one mostly because of the skyrocketing price for housing. The exorbitant price is just due to the fact that the demand for housing exceeds the supply of it. Therefore, if we want our people to have a better living environment, we should first expand the supply of housing. Once there is enough housing, the price of it will drop naturally, and even people with slender income can afford to live in a spacious house at that time. All in all, considering the economics dependence on exportation and investment, together with the urgent need to improve people's living environment, it is reasonable for China to develop the land for industry and housing. Once we have gained enough economics power and once our people have had a better life, it is the time for preserving the natural environment, but at the very moment, land for industry and housing is more in need. |
