没有这种“精确”说法 ：“直接用officially known bla bla...修饰Roman Colosseum是可以的，只不过NN说这样没有which was精确” 这两种都属于noun-modifer。 用法不相同，有的时候可以通用，有的不可以通用。 V-ed 作为noun modifer 修饰紧邻的noun， 即noun1 of noun2, V-ed .... v-ed 只能修饰noun2. noun1 in noun2， which verb... "which"一般修饰noun2, 但是 也有跳跃修饰即跳跃修饰noun1 的时候 （1） 单复数差异决定（noun1(单数) in noun2(复数)， which was...） etc。 （2） 也有跳过简短的插入语修饰前面的核心名词。 例如 noun, short modifer, which... (这里的which指代noun, 而不指代modifer 里面的non). (3) 还有一种比较特别 noun1 of noun2, which... 你会发现which可以直接跳跃指代noun1，没有受到单复数的限制，个人以为这是有noun1 和 noun的“of” 关系决定。即核心词是noun1。 这里面OG都有类似的题目，多做几遍你就会遇到。 -- by 会员 abjure (2012/9/3 18:57:57)

从属关系“A of B，which”中的which就近修饰紧邻的名词。

非从属关系的就可以跳过

这里的which不能修饰紧邻的1698，必须跳过介词结构of 1968修饰前面的核心词act。
有人这里会说这不是A of B，which吗？which应该紧邻修饰啊？其实不然，因为of 1968和前面的那些A of B实际上用法不一样，这里是表示时间而不是“从属关系”。这个时间应该归在介词结构一类，所以要跳过。
