the answer is E,但是我没有明白E中的with前面用逗号格开，不是优先修饰cakes吗？（72题的D与E中的解释就是这样说的），可是这里的解释是修饰全句 既：The diet。。。。was vegetarian ,..with meat as a rarity是怎么回事呢？

答案选了C，但是我觉得C的后半句话用了完成时，说明他一直生活在England 和Canada，持续到现在，而后面又接上一个过去时说他在1961首次到美国，时间上不是跳跃了一下吗？

而D中虽然being born有点问题，但是说明过去生活在England，并列事件是1961年到美国还说的过去啊

其实我趋向于这里使用had的
