AACSB is launching two programs to alleviate the so-called PhD shortage problem. One is a bridging program to faciliate senior executives' entry into classroom, which ease teaching demand for faculty.
Another bridging program is to faciliate other social science PhDs' entry into B-school as research-cum-teaching faculty.
At least I'm not worried. PhD-traind faculty members are expected to concentrate on research anyway. The cry for PhD shortage or "crisis" has been around for 4 years now and they're only starting to tackle it.
Hmm...yeah, sure, I don't think you or other B-school Phd students will be worried about the bridging program to convert executives into b-school teachers.
But you need to watch out for, assuming you are doing a PhD in a B-school, is the up-coming bridging program to faciliate other social science PhDs' entry into B-school as research-cum-teaching faculty. They are more superior, compared to B-school's own PhDs, with regard to research.

It has been this case for many years.... at least in the filed of management and organizational studies, and this is especially true if you are talking about those top business schools. Many top OB/ OT / srattegy programs have been recruiting faculty members from such disciplines as sociology, psychology and econ, and this is not surprising at all-- given that organizational scholars do not really have their own theories. I guess the case is similar for other fields in the b-school: most business studies have their root in other social science disciplines.
