B. there are fewer than one-quarter as many

D. the number is less than one-quarter the amount
E. it is less than one-quarter of that amount

PREP答案是B 我觉得也是B 说说自己的想法请NN们指教
1.我认为这里4000是4000INS 也就是这种玩意而不是数字因为数字是不能exist的所以后面指代ins这个可数应该用fewer了
A less不对 that many也不对
C that amount 没有指代因为4000其实是4000INS 而不是数字而且ins是可数
D THE NUMBER不合理前面没有出现过number 因为4000是 4000ins不是数字要用number只能是number of that吧
E 这里的IT我觉得可以指代前面的popularity 不知道对不对啊我觉得是错在后面的that amount

不明白LZ想表达神马~一般我做比较的题目第一步就是抓出主句，搞清是要比较神马~IT如果指代popularity肿么可能跟主语形成比较列~非NN
