the A and B of C <-->the A and the B of C
前者是说C的A和B方面，描述的是一个东西；后者是说C的A方面和B方面，是两个东西。此题两者区别不太明显。GMAT的语法里区分这样的结构比较严格，因为在意思上描述的是两种有差异的东西。但在语法上并不错。
如果后面还有谓语，就要考虑不同的谓语形式。

正好看到一个可以引用的例子：
Caves are formed by the chemical and mechanical action of water on soluble rock, by volcanic activity, and by （earthquakes）.
可以在mechanical前加上the，就是说的水的两种运动了。
