不明白的是为何，E错在哪里？

我也说不出具体原因，但感觉A比E好。
前半句说的是这本novel是第一本作品，顺着这个意思是说读起来应该像新手写的，而后半句却说不像，突出没有“共同点”。
若要用unlike的话，我认为应该是这样的：
Unlike an apprentice work, Some Tame Gazelle, Barbara Pym’s first novel, is a great work（诸如此类的，与新手作品不同之处）.

这是一个惯用语：“象”可以用like，而“不象”只能在动词上否定。

应为do not ... like

白勇先生是这样说的：do like 用法正确，但是do unlike 永远错。这是个习惯用法的问题，记住就行了。

"It doesn't seems to be the right answer" rather than "It seems not to be the right answer"
