这个题考的是一个定语从句，因此其从句的时态与主句谓语的没什么关系。我们既可以说 In1800, a pesent found a beautiful diamond that is the largest one in the world. 也可以说 In 1800, a pesent found a beautiful diamond that was the largest one in the world.

在A中，GMAT在没有明确的时间状语的情况下是不用过去和现在完成时的，而D中的一般现在时态表示站在reduce这个动作发生的时间角度上看的“现在时”，而不是发生在“reduce”之前的动作。
