我理解这个实质是as much as的复杂形势， as much because 从句 as because 从句，既是因为。。。也是因为。。。

我的理解是：Retailer在11月份的销量呈现了适度的增长，一方面是因为去年同期的销售实在是很不好，另一方面也是因为 shopper一开始大量从他们那里购买节日礼品----个人理解哈

我认为就是把as much as中间插入了一个原因状语，(as...as结构要平行 ) 所以这两个原因状语结构平行表示对moderate gains有相同分量的解释
