我的问题是题于中the Earth's crust is more solid there and thus better able to transmit shock waves的这个able to 之前为何没有加 " be", 在标准语法中，这个be 能够省去吗？

东方好象有个理论，is solid 是系表，后面是 be able to , is 在前后的功能不同，所以后面的 is 是不能省略的。

请NN指教!!

首先，佩服楼主的明察秋毫

第二，个人不懂相关标准语法；但是认为ets表达好。

理由：

1.ETS跟美国人一样，相当讲究实用性-->达意，practical 优于 theoretical;诸如 effective/impresice等判断标准很含糊的，也就是不教条，好就好。be more... and thus better...,已经平衡/清晰,没有歧义，又何必多劳？（is more ...and thus is better able to）

2.也很难说be more solid 跟be able to的两个be, 有什么质的不同。全是be动词，同一个主语。个人看来，be able to 只不过是大家用多了，成了惯用, 不是be able of 或者 make able from;但是，这并没有改变be动词的性质和功用。

3.看OG两遍，大全两section一遍。感想：越看大的结构，题目越容易做。

不知道大全是什么东西？？跟OG相比，更注重了某些单词的用，比如recoup 还是recoup for??, 这些全需要记得么？

其实越是新题，越是容易从大的结构上判断来选出正确答案。

只是这些小语法点是用在选项很难区分时用的。
