一道prep08的题目，请赐教

Noting that the Federal Reserve had raised a key short-term interest rate again last month, analysts said that they expected orders for durable goods to decline soon because rising interest rates makes it more expensive to buy them on credit
A. rising interest rates makes it more expensive to buy them on credit
B. rising interest rates make buying on credit more expensive
C. a rise in interest rates make it more expensive to buy on credit
D. a rise in interest rates make buying on credit more expensive
E. a rise in interest rates makes it more expensive for them to be bought on credit

正确答案是B。

语法笔记上给出对A的解释是：rates和makes主谓不一致；make it more expensive to buy them中them无所指，语法上指代orders，但逻辑上应该指代durable goods

但是为什么不能这样理解A：1.rising interest rates是一个行为，因此makes是第三人称单数；2.them不是就近指代吗，为什么不是指代durable goods？

另外
In 1527 King Henry VIII sought to have his marriage to Queen Catherine annulled so as to marry Anne Boleyn.
(A) so as to marry
(B) and so could be married to
(C) to be married to
(D) so that he could marry
(E) in order that he would marry

正确答案D。

那A要怎么解释呢？能否等于in order to或者to呢？

1. 我也困惑于为什么rising interest rates不能是一个行为。。。至于后面，总觉得有点wordy。

2. 这题我也纠结过，引用版上大牛的回答，如下：

so as to 作为目的状语使用，和in order to一样，是不定式作目的状语的明确形式。

a. 既然做状语，修饰对象要明确。在这一句话里面，so as to前有2个限定动词，sought和have，这样就造成了歧义：是sought….. so as to, 还是have…annulled so as to。注意，从意思上看，这种歧义对我们中国人并没有造成迷惑，但是从语法上分析，是有问题的。就像有些动词必须要接动名词，有些动词必须要接不定式一样，你不能说"我看懂了，没有造成我理解上的问题,所以对了"，因为语法上规定了，错的就是错的。

b. have sth done也很有意思，done后还隐藏着别的主语。所以so as to/in order to/to放在这种结构后面，好像也有些不妥。

c. so that避免了1和2的问题。但是在简单系表结构后使用so as to还是很好的。

对于第二题，Fiona解释的很清楚了，Ron也说so as to表达的不如so that he could marry一目了然，但是他也补充了一句，“This is a tough question. Honestly, if I saw this as an experimental question, my first reaction would be something along the lines of 'Choice A isn't wrong enough to be an actual wrong answer.'” 所以楼主也不用太纠结。
