从前半句可以看出 they指代的是penguins  ； Manhattan有提到，一句话中，若出现多个they/these，则必指代同样的事物；
所以C错了，C中  they reduce by 25 percent即penguins reduce....       而事实上reduce的主语应该是前面描述的这种方式即huddle over the nests in group；

A中reducing现在分词表结果，很好地表达了是前面这种方式导致了后面的结果

B中their也是错的；而且B中lower与compared的搭配也错。lower一般和than搭配

C中the rate they burn energy这定语从句也错了，应该是A那样的the rate at which they burn energy；错的原因嘛高中简单的语法不说了

D E也不用说了 which一般只能指代前面紧邻which的词而不能指代前面的句子

这道题读完题干之后，瞄一眼选项只有DE是which 很敏感的想是不是又是那经典错误？which指代groups，错
再看ABC    C用and连接两个并列的主句，无法表达前后因果关系
再看AB B的their rate太蹩脚了
