E 现在分词做结果状语。前面有主句和分句，共两个动词，recommended和sell，修饰哪一个？第二个问题是Fear后面的would没有了，fear不一定需要虚拟语气。

ETS的改法让raising有问题，原文是plunged导致raising，逻辑主语是plunge of gold prices。

D确实奇怪...第一被动语态不如主动好，第二独立主格过于复杂，第三with独立主格在此无法反映出动作的先后(sell和raised fear是同时发生还是一先以后发生？如果一先一后发生，那个先发生？)

所以我觉得E少打了would是一个打字错误...最早的这个题目的版本是有would的..

这道题我做错了，选了D。aeoluseros 关于D的三点意见我都接受（勉强接受，因为我还是不习惯E）

我对E的问题是：raising是哪个动词的伴随状语？sell about half of its gold reserves这个sell raise了是么？还是recommended raise了？　

根据prep2笔记99题，现在分词/过去分词位于句尾，用逗号与前句隔开，作为状语修饰前句。在这种情况下，现在分词/过去分词的逻辑主语应与前句（最临近分词的逻辑主谓结构）中的主语相同。
