My question is: Why is option E incorrect. I think because "many of them" after "but" refers to products, the first clause should also start with the same subject because of parallelism.

E答案不需要用products开头的原因是
题目中第一句的结尾就是them指代的内容

BTW：答案选D不？think of sth to be sth似乎是个错误用法呢

D? E不如d吧 e是被动语态而d主动另外d中使用了a consumer很好地避免了them的错误指代
