It is a common fact that too many people think only about getting results. But there are still other people who believe that the key to success is to focus on the specific task at hand and not to worry about results. In my opinion, it is more reasonable that people should focus on the specific task which can lead them to the expected results.
To begin with, before implementing the specific program, people must think about the results that can be caused by the action. Only if people have targets, the actions can be effective. Doing things without thinking about the results, people may even do harm to themselves. For example, in some areas of South America, people used to destroy the tropical forests which can keep soil and water to grow some crops. With time goes by, the soil was gradually washed away by the heavy rain, thus making the land too barren to grow any crop. Consequently, people have to abandon their home to seek other fertilized land. Furthermore, such actions also affect the climate of those areas.
In addition, after fixing the target, people must focus on the specific task at hand and not to worry more about the results. If one is too hesitate about the results, he or she would put off actions towards the results and then lose the opportunities to become successful. Suppose that a investor spend long time thinking about what results will be if he or she invest a huge mount of money but not do any practical actions. The chance may slip away from him or her and never come back. Therefore, too much thinking also hinders one's way to success.
In sum, if people want to be successful, they can neither be too hasty to begin the programs nor be too worry about the possible results. Fixing the practical targets is the premise to success, and the specific task is the way to the target: success. Therefore reconciliation of the two factors above is the real key to success. |
