选B之后句子that后面的完整句子是：personal spending in the July-September quarter would more than double the 1.4% growth rate in personal spending for the previous quarter.
只提取主干是：spending would double the rate，对吗？
我的问题是：spending指消费，怎么可以和rate速率比较呢？

prep08语法笔记好像有讲到，有好几道题都是这种用法，我个人总结就是比较对等在数字上放得比较宽。
还有一个正确句子是：
The number of people flying first class on domestic flights rose sharply in 1990, doubling the increase of the previous year.
