各路大神好，走过路过欢迎指点迷津哦！今天本人看到一题OG一直无法理解最终答案正确句子的结构：

Retail sales rose 0.8 of 1 percent in August, intensifying expectations that personal spending in the July-September quarter would more than double the 1.4 percent growth rate in personal spending for the previous quarter.

分析说明：黄色和蓝色背景是句子核心主干，划线部分是从句，没有背景色的为修饰部分。
如此说来，句子结构为 Retails sales rose..., intensifying expectations that personnal spending...would more than double the ... growth rate...
问题：personal spending 如何可以 more than double the growth rate? （比较的两个事物不对等）

OG原题：Retail sales rose 0.8 of 1 percent in August, intensifying expectations that personal spending in the Julv-September quarter more than doubled that of the 1.4 percent growth rate in personal spending for the previous quarter.

(A) that personal spending in the July-September quarter more than doubled that of

that personal spending in the July-September quarter would more than double...是同位语从句

would more than double the 1.4 percent growth rate中谓语是would double，more than就是副词修饰动词double，并不是比较的意思。

请问牛牛：
more than doubled that of，如果先忽略doubled时态不对，是不是因为不是比较，所以不需要有that of 啊，这个that是不是指的personal spending？看的我晕死了

不需要that of，that无所指。如果指代personal spending，则more than的比较对象不对等：是0.8 of 1 percent in August和1.4 percent growth rate in personal spending for previous quarter比较，百分比跟百分比比较。

即使不是比较，double也应该遵守平行的原则吧。

想请教一下，that引导的应该是expectations的同位语从句吧？那在从句中，主语是personal spending 谓语是 double 宾语是 growth rate 但是这个主语怎么能double这个谓语呢我还是不懂。数量跟速度应该没法比较吧···
