好像在cd里面还没有看到有类似的疑问，我想请问some of them...这个modifier为什么最好要跟在in motion后面呢？og里面的解释是“The modifying phrase, some of them at tremendous speeds, is best placed after motion.” 想请教各位是直接把这个记住就好？最好跟在动词结束的后面？
还有请教一下这个some of them...是在句子中做同位语吗？

我觉得有两点。一是从语义上面看，at tremendous speed是就in motion的扩展，所以从顺序上来看，先说in motion，再说at tremendous speed比较好。二是如果写成’Like the planets, the stars, some of them at tremendous speeds, are in motion, but they are‘，这句话就太碎片化了，给读者一种磕磕绊绊的感觉。

另外一种写法在语法和语义上都没有错，只不过，像你所说，不是最好的。

同意楼上的，SC就是一个beauty contest，选最漂亮的。
另外虽然them离修饰的stars比较远，但是pronoun issue在SC里面如果不是数不一致，几乎不太是一个致命伤。
再者提到的some of them at tremendous speeds是对In motion进一步解释，放在motion后面正如OG说的，的确很合理
