我看到这道题，第一反应就是把ABC排除了。因为主语是a recently discovered species of catfish中的species。species是复数，为什么后面的main verb（lessens）是单数。不是说句子的主语不能看OF+modifier,应该看of之前的名词吗？a recently discoverd(modifiers，表示最近发现的)+speicies(subject)+of catfish(modifier，表示是什么species)
