Music, a distinctive form of art, spans time and geography as an ever-present theme in the lives of all people. It is hard to think of a person who does not like music or a culture without any music. Music is so important that sometimes we take its existence for granted. How can we imagine a world with loss of music? People may ask. The origin of music is that people want to sing their happiness with a good harvest as well as tiredness during the laborious work. Nowadays, some people listen to classic music to enjoy, some listen to pop music to relax and still some prefer rock and roll to drive away their anger ,anxiety and sadness. No other forms can surpass music in expressing both our happiness and unhappiness. When we are in good spirit, light-hearted songs best illustrate our love of the world; and nothing can be more therapeutic than music when some emotional trauma occurs.

If expressing feeling is an important function of music since it is a way for us and by us, another amusing function of music is that people of different cultures can communicate with each other with rhythms and tunes without any difficulty. Even people cannot understand a Spanish word, the flamenco “Carmen ” still make the audience shear their tears, all of whom feel the grief in the Spanish folks. Unlike literature or films, music is a common language of the world.

Last but not least, music helps establish commonality and unity among members in a group. A good example to prove this point is religious music .When people sing church music together on a Sunday morning; the slow rhythms resonate in their souls and hearts.

Therefore, music is important to many people because it expresses their deep feelings, helps them understand others and establish closer ties among members in a group. Thanks to so many types of music to celebrate our joy and to consoles our souls, this is a charming and beautiful world to live in.
