求助两个语法问题！！现在分词作状从 &“，which”引导的定从

问题1: Lily helps the old lady carry her bag, showing that she is a warm－hearted person. 我想请问这句话对吗，v.+ing可以修饰前面整个句子吗？还是说v.+ing 引导的从句必须和主句的主语一致

问题2: sixty-five million years ago, according to some scientists, an asteroid bigger than mount everest slammed into north america, an event that caused the plant and animal extinction that mark the end of the geologic era known as the cretaceous period.

我想问 “an event that....that mark” 的黑体部分可不可以换成“,which caused the plant and animal extinction that mark”, 也就是说which从句修饰前面整个句子（an asteroid bigger than mount everest slammed into north america），这样可以吗？
