求教comma+to do不定式

求教：以前在哪里看到过“ ......., to do. ” 这个是错的。求问有这个说法吗？
因为在RON视频里看到一句： Genetic engineering sometimes entails splicing plant or animal genes into the DNA of other species, either to improve crop yield or to ward off insects. 这个句子是正确答案，但是这里貌似用到了“ ......., to do. ” ？

楼主，语法规则最忌断章取义。我相信楼主以前哪里看到过的那个规则，必定是在某种context 之下的结果

这里这句句子是对的, to do 表示目的也就是说 entails splicing plants...into the DNS of other species 的目的是 to improve...or to...ward off

语法是为语义服务的，楼主加油

多谢回答！
其实不是在context下的，回去翻了一下是看的GMAT霞姐的非谓语动词总结，说“SVO, to do” 必错，除了 SVO, 插入语, to do" 这一种情况例外。所以这个论断应该是错的？

这位ls 不是给出了context 了 comma 前是SVO的结构，楼主不能一概而论comma to do 就是错的。

这位ls 在讲课的时候肯定是有给出具体的例子的，楼主可以贴出例子和大家交流体验下。

死扣语法点其实是大忌讳

你好，我贴了内容~两张图~~ 所以” Genetic engineering sometimes entails splicing plant or animal genes into the DNA of other species, either to improve crop yield or to ward off insects.“这个句子是因为有”into the DNA of other species” 所以不算SVO, TO DO 对吧~~

楼主贴的图只强调了结论，我个人觉得楼主应该问问ls 推到论证的过程。

如果只看结论的话很有可能会曲解ls 真正想要告诉我们的知识。我没有上个这位ls 的课，看楼主是在上课，应该把握机会好好讨教呀。学习是求道解惑的过程，只知道结论却不知道论证的过程，这样的学习方法是不对的

比如有这样一道题: 这道题的正确答案是D

One of the earliest known birds with a beak and contour feathers, Confuciusornis sanctus, with large clawlike "thumbs" on its wings, which probably helped them to climb up to a launching position for flight.
A. with large clawlike "thumbs" on its wings, which probably helped them to
B. with large clawlike "thumbs" on their wings, which probably helped it to
C. had large clawlike "thumbs" on its wings, which probably helped them
D. had large clawlike "thumbs" on its wings, probably to help it

RON说过我们不要question 正确答案的真正意思便是要我们寻求为什么这么写是对的这样一个解惑的过程。
这里RON的解释是 to help it 是修饰 large clawlike...

多谢楼上提供其他例子~
我是关注了那个ls的公众号，里面有公开分享她的这些教材~所以只能看到这个结论木有别的了。。个人猜测可能是像XDF那种，从之前的题目中总结出来的“规律”，不一定可靠~ 没办法问她，不然就把这两个句子抛给她了哈哈哈哈
