这里as引导一个伴随状语从句，作为状语只能修饰动词，而D项 the increase of piracy是名词短语，如果说修饰的是they expected，语义又些讲不通。

看看E项，E选项的as从句修饰的是increase这个动作，意思是随着高速网络的普及，隐私会增强，所以会选E

不是特别理解这个解释诶我理解的as后跟句子在这里挺行的通的呀 as后跟“high-speed internet connections would become more widely available"嘛而且我记得as后跟句子这一点是不是只是在as表比较的时候才比较注重？
本人语法渣渣可能说得也不太对噢……
补一个og解释~

这里涉及到2个考点：

首先，在英语中 an increase of 这种形式在英语中只用在后面是百分比的情况下

其次，这里有个考点是 as - clause 这个modifier. as-clause 是ADV modifier 不能修饰名词。 D 选项中，as-clause 紧靠 piracy，根据修饰语就近的原则，D选项里 as-clause 就变成了一个修饰名词的 adj modifier. 所以是不对的。而E选项中 as-clause 修饰 to increase 这个动作，是ADV modifier。

楼主，回上去再仔细看一下：as-clause 是ADV modifier 不能修饰名词只能修饰动词。D选项错的第二个原因就是 as clause 修饰了名词piracy

我知道你的意思 as从句不能修饰名词~
我就是想问一下这里说d错误的理由可不可以是说因为它修饰的是increase,是个名词，所以不对。
你告诉我的理由不是因为它是修饰的piracy嘛~ 我就是想知道因为这里是the increase of piracy嘛抛开其他问题可不可以说as修饰了increase所以不正确?还是说这里的就近原则一定要严格到它修饰的是piracy呢~
可能有点钻牛角尖了?但是弄不明白有点难受…如果能弄清楚就太感谢了!

不可以如果要正确表达 increase 这个名词的话就要写作 increase in piracy . 修饰是不能跳过 in piracy.

句子的修饰都是就近的不然读者读的时候还要往前找修饰到底修饰哪个部分？

如果你要修饰 increase，就只能用E里的形式 increase 作动词。
