Could you help me the problems of structure ?
1. ( For ) a seagoing, cargo-carrying sailing ( vessels ), the clipper ship was ( remarkably ) ( fast )
ANS: B ...................why is B ?

2.(Toward ) the end of his life, John Singer Sargent ( returned ) to the painting of landscapes and ( the use ) of watercolors, ( of ) which he excelled.
ANS: D ..............why ?

3. The ( sensation ) of ( sound ) is produced ( how ) vibrations transmitted through the air ( strike ) the eardrum.
ANS: C...........................Why isn't D ? strike and transmitted are V.

※※※※本句中"cargo-carrying sailing ( vessels )"和“the clipper ship ”应该是同位语，单复数应一致，改成vessel。

※※※※excel后可加"in"、"at"表示在某一方面比较杰出，of是错的吧。

3. The ( sensation ) of ( sound ) is produced ( how ) vibrations transmitted through the air ( strike ) the eardrum.
ANS: C...........................Why isn't D ? strike and transmitted are V.

※※※※C肯定是错的……但是D偶也不会解释，感觉strike前加个to更合适……请高手赐教呀。

对不起，第3题偶想说的是strike改成动名词比较合适。

原句C改成when
The ( sensation ) of ( sound ) is produced ( when ) vibrations transmitted through the air ( strike ) the eardrum.
这样，vibrations strike the eardrum 就没错。
