   The reading and listeningmaterial have a conflict opinions about whether Sinosauropteryx is a featherdinosaur or not. The writer believes that Sinosauropteryx is not a feather dinosaur,which is different with professor’s opinion.

   First of all, the writer claimsthat dinaurs’ skin might have decomposed into fibers after animal was buried involcano ash. The skin fiber preserved as lines in the fossil, which was misinterpretedevidence of feather. However, the professor’s views that people do not see anysuch decomposition in the fossil of other animals of many animals at same site.Also, volcanic ash is able to preserve their functional of skin. She thinks thelines in the Sinosauropteryx fossil are possibly feathers.

   Secondly, writer states that thescientists cannot identify what part of the dinosaur’s anatomy the structureswere. Therefore, speaker thinks feathers contain a great deal of protein, yetthe frills do not contain protein. The chemical analysis suggests that the structures did contain proteinso that the structures are the feather instead of frills.

Thirdly, the passage argues thatthe lines do not represent feathers because the structure is quite useless for flight.Unlike passage, the lecture states that feather can be used to display function.Feathers are colorful in order to attract other bird, such as peacock. Scientistshave been analysis Sinosauropteryx that shows us that they were orange andwhite. The fact that they were colorful support this ideal that structures werefeather that use for display.
