The new TOEFL test is a breakthrough in testing because it measures all four language skills, emphasizes the ability to communicate, and will be delivered via the Internet.

In order to maintain test and score integrity and ensure a quality administration for test takers, ETS will introduce the new test in phases.

September 2005: UNITED STATES
The new test will first be administered in the United States. The current computer-based test will end in mid September, and the Internet-based test will begin on September 24.

October 2005: CANADA, FRANCE, GERMANY, AND ITALY
The last paper-based TOEFL test in these countries will be administered on October 15 and computer-based testing will end in mid-October. The new Internet-based test will begin on October 22.

NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER 2005
TOEFL iBT testing in Canada, France, Germany, Italy, and the United States.

SCHEDULE FOR 2006
By November 1, 2005, ETS will announce the 2006 launch schedule on this Web site, through advising offices, and in our publications.

ETS will continue to administer the current computer-based and paper-based versions of the test until the new Internet-based test is implemented.

1，关于今年新toefl何时在中国大陆推出

根据ETS最近在网上公布的时间表，似乎9月中国大陆并不会安排新T，与原来的传闻不相同，具体内容如下：

很清楚地看到，今年的新T开始实施的地方没有中国大陆，而具体的时间表要等到11月，ETS才会公布。在这之前，不进行新T的地区仍旧保持笔考或者机考。


2，在新toefl推出之前，除了5T，还有哪些toefl考试？我已经向ETS邮件询问了今年的具体笔考时间安排，他们已经回复，内容如下：关于6月以后考试时间我的询问：

Dear Sir or Madam:

I am a test taker who wants to take TOEFL in P.R.China. I read about the
information on the web that the new timetable (IBT) in 2006 will be available
in November this year. However I wonder whether I can take the test between
June 1st and October 31st. Could you please tell me? Thanks for your help.

I sincerelly hope for your reply.

Thank you for your inquiry.

Please be advised that ETS is committed to a successful transition
worldwide. In order to maintain test and score integrity and ensure a
quality administration for test takers, ETS will introduce the new
Internet-Based TOEFL (iBT) test in phases.

The test will first be administered in the United States on September 24,
2005. On October 22, the TOEFL iBT test will begin in Canada, France,
Germany and Italy. The test will be introduced in the rest of the world in
2006. A complete schedule will be available by November 1, 2005. Please
refer to the TOEFL iBT timeline at
http://www.ets.org/toefl/nextgen/timeline.html for more details.

ETS will continue to administer the current computer-based and paper-based
versions of the test until the new Internet-based test is implemented. In
the United States, CBT will stop in mid-September. In Canada, France,
Germany, and Italy, a paper-based test administration will be held on
October 15, 2005, and computer-based testing will continue until mid-month.
CBT and PBT will continue in the rest of the world until iBT is introduced
in 2006.

Please note that the 2005-2006 TOEFL Information & Registration Bulletins
are not available at this time.  Please contact us again in May to receive
test date information for 2005-2006.  lease note that special editions of
the bulletin are required for the People's Republic of China. We suggest
that you contact NEEA in May if you are testing in the People's Republic of
China.
