Good luck to all the dream chasers! 我在第一个房间 ,没有另一个聊天室的记录。

Becca -Admissions: Hi all, please feel free to ask anyquestions here.
yhb318: Will everyone admitted be invited to interview?
Becca -Admissions: How is everyone doing? Please feel free toask any questions now.
Becca -Admissions: Hi yhb, no, not everyone is invited tointerview. Usually we invite 25% of the applicants.
iateadonut: The workload is pretty heavy at MIT. I'm curious what percentage of thework is the kind you're passionate about (e.g. when you have this type of workand get paid for it, you think, "I can't believe I get paid to do thisjob!") and how much of the work is the kind you just have to get through?
yhb318: Right, but are there any that are admitted that never go through aninterview?
iateadonut: (Incidentally, I think almost everyday, "I can't believe I get paidto do my job!")
saukamdar: Hi, I am round 2 applicant. How much weight/importance does the 'OptionalInformation' section plays on a candidate's evaluation?
SLaoprapassorn557a4d:
Hello. I knowinterviews will occur in February-March, but is there a deadline for theinterview invitation to be sent out?
skafrogger712: Hi Becca! Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions. I washoping you could talk a little bit about opportunities for students focused onsustainability (where do they end up, what types of roles, etc.). Thanks!
Becca -Admissions: Hi iateadonut, we only have one semestercore. After that, students select the courses they take so typically ourstudents are quite passionate about the classes they are taking since theychose them.
abaranov: Becca, do currently monitor average GMAT score of current intake? If so,what is it?
Becca -Admissions: Hi yhb, no you must interview to beadmitted.
Rajat.Gulati: Good evening Ms Becca. I'm Rajat Gulati from Mumbai, India. I have noticedthat your program has a leaning towards accepting students with more workexperience. Could you elaborate on the age/ experience cut-off, both minimumand maximum.
iateadonut: Wow, sounds great. Are you an alumna?
SHongf855d1: If admitted, how can I join the labs such as G-lab and E-lab?
vipf96778: Hi Becca, good evening. Can you please touch upon how easy is it forstudents to be able to pick up courses of their choice and if there are timeswhen some of the first choice courses are not available
Becca -Admissions: Hi saukamdar, the optional section isoptional so it can only add to one's application. I encourage everyone to atleast do something for the optional so we get to know you more.
EEBIGBEYI06a6de: Hi Becca, curious to know if there are any opportunities for Sloan MBAstudents to take courses at the MIT Real Estate Center?
Becca -Admissions: Hi SLaopra, no we will send interviewinvites throughout March.
SHurleydb2aee: hi there. do you review GMAT and GRE scores with equal weight, or do youprefer GMAT scores?
AGopalrathnamcfb452: Since MIT did not ask for the goals separately, on what basis will theadmission be made. Or in other words, I believe understanding the goals of astudent is a great way for schools to identify if that applicant is the rightcandidate for its MBA program. Since Sloan, did not ask for it separately, wondering what aspects of my application will be given importance ?
Becca -Admissions: Hi ska, sustainability is very strong at MITSloan. We have the certificate, a Sustainability Club, S Lab, etc. Students goall over who are interested in the topic, some do a start-up involvingsustainability, others might work for a company overseeing sustainabilityefforts
altermar: Hi Becca, thank you for answering our admissions questions! I waswondering how MIT looks upon applicants submitting the GRE in lieu of the GMAT.Are they at an inherent disadvantage?
Becca -Admissions: Hi Abaranov, our average GMAT is around a710
cyberbg: Is there an incubator to start a company while you're enrolled, usingMIT's resources?
RMamajonov95d52f: Hi Becca,
SLaoprapassorn557a4d:
Is it possible that some applicants will be offered a place on thewaitlist without having been interviewed? and do you have quotas for applicants in each country?
Becca -Admissions: Hi Rajat, we have no minimum age or maximum.the average is between 27-28 but this entering class ranged from 23-37.
aho728: Hi Becca--thank you for your time. How does MIT's emphasis on quantitativeskills in the curriculum manifest itself in practice? And if you do not comefrom a heavy quant background, does this put you at a disadvantage?
vipd8559a: I thought the optional essay is meant to explain the weakness inapplication fro example low GPA or work gap ETC. Is it true?
abaranov: Thanks Becca, another question. While Round 2 application deadline hadsurely passed, is there any way to apply for 2014 class intake?
RMamajonov95d52f: I am Round 2 applicant and trying to retake the gmat, at the latest, bywhen I should retake it?
Becca -Admissions: Hi ateadonut, no I am not an alumna, I workin admissions.
AKopytko6388a6: Hello Becca, what would you say is MIT's top strength in terms of programand/or industry focus? Thank you very much for moderating this discussion!
vipe92cac: Hi Becca, I'm Chris from Taiwan. I learned from several students aboutLGO, could you please tell more about this? Do I need an engineer liscence orsomething to apply? Is it applicable for engineering education background orwork experience?
Becca -Admissions: Hi Shong, the lab courses are for credit. You would bid for the lab courses you want to take.
skafrogger712: Thanks, Becca! Are there many students with children at Sloan? Are theremany resources that exist for parents?
MKottoor26a9e1: Hi Becca, Do Ad Coms look at the split in GMAT score? {When you sayaverage is 710, different splits can take you to 710 even though an applicantis weak in one area, say quant or verbal}
Becca -Admissions: Hi vip, most students get the courses theywant to take. We use a bidding system so you bid for which classes you want totake. Most people say if you do not get the class you want, you can always meetwith the professor to see if you can add.
owenblackbrewer: I neglected to respond to the optional essay request, perhaps notunderstanding how important it was. Is there anything I can be doing at thispoint to give a more full picture of my candidacy?
Becca -Admissions: Hi EEBIG, yes, MIT Sloan students can takeup to 3 classes outside of Sloan so these can be done with real estate.
Becca - Admissions: Hi Shurley, we have no preference for GMAT or GRE.
iateadonut: Can I ask have you guys already read our essays?
SHurleydb2aee: thanks, becca
vip437237: Hi Becca, thanks so much for your time this evening. Chris here (no, myname is notvip437237). Can you elaborate on the interview process? (Questionformat, topic, duration, etc)
Becca -Admissions: Hi AGopal, we do not ask about goals because80% of our students are career changers. A goal you may have now may not betrue when you get here. If you want to talk about goals, you can use theoptional section. We focus more on your demonstrated success and personalattributes.
Becca -Admissions: Hi Altermar, no, we accept GMAT and GRE andhave no preference.
ludena:
Hi Becca. I wanted toask you if submitting your application close to the deadline date decreasesyour chances for admission? Thanks.
jfrankg1: Hello Becca, thank you for taking the time to speak with us. I amcurrently working at a startup company in the cleantech industry, and I wouldlike to continue working with them (at a much reduced level) during my MBA.Have students brought in their own Action Learning opportunities like this inthe past?
iateadonut: Ha! Getting into MIT IS the goal!
AKapoor3cd501: Are there programs to connect Sloan students with those in otherdisciplines (such as the engineering)?
Becca -Admissions: Hi cyberbg, yes, Martin trust Center forEntrepreneurship provides incubator space.
Becca -Admissions: Hi Slao, no quotas for countries, and yes, some applicants may be placed on the wait list without an interview. If thathappens, they will need to interview in order to be admitted.
vip41f21a: Hi Becca. My name is Christa and I applied in round 2. I am wondering howmany students are generally waitlisted and how many of those waitlisted areoffered admission?
gaarons: Hi Becca, can you elaborate on any entrepreneurial aspects to the Sloanprogram. Have any specific connections been developed between the E-lab and theMBA students? Are Sloan MBA students being encouraged to be moreentrepreneurial with the growing emphasis on this type of career in the economy?
altermar: Thanks, Becca!
Becca -Admissions: Hi vipd, the optional can be used for thator an applicant can use it to showcase something else that was not in theapplication.
AGopalrathnamcfb452: Will taking GMAT multiple times affect one's chances? Beyond how manyattempts will it be considered a negative?
Rajat.Gulati: Ms Becca, how what avenues of collaboration exist with other schools atMIT. I am interested in the technology as well. Could I possibly take somecourses, or participate in labs/ projects with the tech students?
Becca -Admissions: Hi abaranov, no, you can not apply anylonger for 2014 matriculation.
marcospavlovic(在) gmail.com: Hi Becca, This is Marcos from Argentina, The interviews are only atCampus?

RMamajonov95d52f: Thanks, I will try
KJha19c0a8: Hi Becca. Thanks for taking the time for this chat. I have completed veryfew quantitative courses as part of my undergrad and don't have the option oftaking additionalcoursesin alocal college because of my geograohic location. How else can I make up for this - online courses? Thanks again.
Becca -Admissions: Hi AKOpt, we have many strengths, but Iwould say our start-up and innovative culture as well as our studentscollaboration
Becca -Admissions: Hi vipe, I ould reach out to lgo@mit.edu,they ahve a different admissions office.
Becca -Admissions: Hi Skafrogger, yes, many students come withfamilies and significant others. they are just as much part of the community asstudents
Becca -Admissions: Hi MKotto, yes we look at test splits andoverall score
vipe92cac: Thanks Becca.
vipd8559a: Having an Online MBA put me in any disadvantage?
iateadonut: Are there any famous startup groups, like Y Combinator, that are directlyinvolved with MIT?
Becca -Admissions: Hi owen, no, do not worry about the optionalessay if you already submitted. it is indeed optional
Becca -Admissions: Iatedonut, we have begun reviewingapplications.
BLinf5903c: Hello Becca, what type of extracurricular activities do MIT MBA studentsparticipate in?
MKottoor26a9e1: Thanks Becca...
altermar: Becca, in your opinion, how does the committee view candidates from thegovernment/non-profit sector (as opposed to more quant-heavy fields, likefinance, for example)? Are there certain difficulties such candidates generallyhave upon matriculation?
iateadonut: In reference to the family question, do you have any fathers/mothers thereor alumni to whom we could be introduced if we are granted admission?
Becca -Admissions: Hi vip 9Chris), the interview is abehavioral based interview that lasts 30-45 minutes. We simply ask youquestions about yourself. You should think of examples not used in yourapplication.
cyberbg: What differentiateSloan from Harvard, Stanford and Wharton? What is MIT'sMBA program most well known for?
vip437237: ok, great thanks!
Becca -Admissions: Hi ludena, no, if you submitted at the dateof deadline, that is fine. We do not begin reviewing until all applications arein.
iateadonut: Once we are accepted, do you begin giving us these types of resourcesright away (alumni and current students with whom to speak)?
rhiely: Hi Becca, what is the difference of taking an interview off-campus andon-campus? Will it be the same ad-com people that come to conduct theoff-campus interviews or would it be a local alumni? Thanks for your time.
ludena: Thanks Becca.
Becca -Admissions: Hi jfrank, you cannot create a lab but cancreate a study tour. this would be a class you would design with the help of aprofessor and student life. Usually they include a travel component.
RMamajonov95d52f: Is there any language courses such as Russian and Arabic, which we canstudyin MIT
camden.forgia: Judging from feedback of both current students and alumni, what aspect ofthe Sloan MBA has added the most value to their education?
Becca -Admissions: Hi AKapoor, yes, MIT Sloan hosts many eventsto connect students to other parts of MIT. 100K Competition is one of them.
jfrankg1: Thank you Becca, that's helpful.
Becca -Admissions: Hi vip, wait list varies year from year sowe cannot give numbers.
vip41f21a: Thanks Becca
MKottoor26a9e1: I skipped the optional essay for R2. Is there anything that I can do now?{or, did I miss the bus? }
Becca -Admissions: Hi gaarons, MIT Sloan has so much to offerfor entrepreneurship such as incubators, classes, different labs, 100k competition, etc. Some students are offered jobs after doing a lab.
vip437237: One more question for you Becca, how much weight, if any, is put on the ITscore?
Becca -Admissions: Hi AGopal, we only ask you to report onescore and that is all we see. You can take as many times as you like.
larrychen21: Hi Becca, if granted for interview, would it be wise to select theearliest date available? Since admission can be seen as rolling-basis?
gaarons: I will look into the 100k competition, and the Sloan specific incubators. Thanks again Becca.
daidi_87629: Hi Becca, how do you evaluate the IR part in GMAT? Is IR part as importantas the rest areas, such as quant? because I didn't get good score in IR.
Becca -Admissions: Hi Rajat, MIT Sloan students can take up to3 courses outside of MIT Sloan. this does not count any classes that are crosslisted. We have many classes cross listed between Sloan and technology likecomputer science.
AKopytko6388a6: Thanks Becca. Feel free to call me Alex. Also can you please provide dataon the geographic reach of Sloan's graduates?
vip437237: *One more question for you Becca, how much weight, ifany, is put on the IR score?
Becca -Admissions: Hi marco, we interview in 10-12 hub citiesaround the world besides Cambridge including South America
Rajat.Gulati: Thanks Ms Becca. Nice to know.
marcospavlovic(在) gmail.com: Thank you Becca
AGopalrathnamcfb452: Thanks and one last question. I have uploaded a video for my optionalessay and mentioned the link in the text box provided in the application. Ihope that is sufficient.
Becca -Admissions: Hi annochal, there is not one most improtantfactor. We take a holistic approach to applicaitons. We are looking fordemonstrated success and different personal attributes (leadership, criticalthinking, communication, amongst others)
Becca -Admissions: Hi KJha, yes, you can take online classesand show us the transcript if you would like.
Becca -Admissions: Hi vipd, we typically do not see manyapplicants who have their MBA previously. I would encourage you to apply, butit may be difficult if you have taken many of the same classes.
vipf96778: Hi Becca, Can you please provide some details on any courses/optionsavailable to someone looking to focus on social entrepreneurshipornot-for-profit companies.
vipccde47: Hi Becca, this is Benjamin from Chile, this interviews in hub cities aretaken by admissions officers or sloan's alumnus?
vipd8559a: Sloan only publish mid 80% GMAT score. Would you be able to mention theabout lowest GMAT for last year admission.
Becca -Admissions: Hi iateadonut, many start-ups have come outof MIT Sloan.
iateadonut: Do you match up what we say in these chat room to our applications, or arewe more-or-less anonymous here?
Becca -Admissions: Hi blin, we have over 60 student clubs andorganizaitons. they range from academic, to extracurricular, to cultural.Examples are finance club, basketball club, and Japan Club.
BLinf5903c: cool! thanks Becca
Becca -Admissions: Hi altermar, we see many applicants from govand NGO. We look for a diverse class so want people from all industries.
iateadonut: Becca, thanks. Concerning start-ups, what's the keyword I should besearching for to read more about these startups that came from MIT Sloan?
jfrankg1: Another question: I majored in chemistry as an undergrad, so I never tookmicroeconomics (my application reflects this). If offered admission, will Ineed to complete this class before matriculation? If so, do I need to use aprovider that MIT recognizes (for example, MOOC vs community college vsaccredited university)?
innochal: Thanks, Becca
Becca -Admissions: iateadonut, yes, feel free to reach out toSloan Moms and Dads Club:sloanmoms@sloan.mit.edu
SHongf855d1: Hi Becca! Thank you for your kind answer to my previous question. I'mround 2 applicant. Regarding the optional information section, I have uploadeda PDF fileon 'Slide Share', a website where people share presentations. And Iposted the link directed to mypresentationon the 'Optional Information' windowin your application system. Is it possible for you to get my optional essay inthis way?
bhavishyavani: Hi Becca, I was concerned about my references. I applied this year in thesecond round - my recommender was out of town and he ended up submitting almosta week after the deadline. Is there any way to know if that's a problem/if myapplication is being considered?
iateadonut: Wow, great! Thanks, Becca!
Becca -Admissions: Hi cyber, our program is very unique sincewe only have one semester core and offer a lot of flexibility. We are known forfinance, health care, innovation, and many others.
Becca -Admissions: Iateadonut, once accepted, you will havecontact with multiple students and some alumni will contact you.
Becca -Admissions: Rhiely, all interviews are conducted byadmissions professionals. No difference between on and off-campus. however, with on-campus you will get a better feel for the school and meet students andother interviewees
altermar: Thank you, Becca! If possible, could you elaborate a little more on whatspecific Non-Profits and Government branches send the most students to Sloan?
Becca -Admissions: RMama, MIT offers many different languagesyou can take as an elective
Becca -Admissions: Camden, i would say the collaborativeenviroment amongst students, they truly do help one another and do not competedirectly against each other
RMamajonov95d52f: Thank you for the response
ADed4f02f: It is interesting to see that many students, including me, have anentepreneurial mindset... And the ecosystem is apt for innovation.. My questionis how often do you see business school students encircling Computer Sciencegrad or undergrad students to explore entepreneurial idea...
vipf4a401: Hi Becca, are we allowed to attend a class if invited for an interview?
rhiely: Thanks Becca!
camden.forgia: Thank you Becca!
Becca -Admissions: Hi MKotto, you cannot add any essays at thistime
gaarons: Becca, we had spoken via email about 2 weeks ago. As an undergraduatesenior, I am looking to gain some work experience before a hopefulmatriculation. I am wondering how many undergraduates the admissions committeetypically interviews/accepts? How does the committee weigh the career goals andfuture work lineup for an undergraduate, against the explicit full-timepositions held by current working professionals?
Becca -Admissions: Hi vip, do you mean IR. As of now, we arenot looking at IR score since not everyone applied with it
MKottoor26a9e1: Thanks Becca..
bhavishyavani: And I have another question - about GRE scores. I had noticed that whileMIT released the average GMAT scores, acceptance of GRE is a fairly new andpossibly, not many applicants opt for it. I was wondering if it's possible toget a ball park estimate of the kind of scores that are "good"?
Becca -Admissions: Larry, admissions is not rolling. Regardlessof when you interview in R2, eveyone hears April 1st
ludena:
Hi Becca,
How the “YoungEntrepreneurs Program” from Foundation Capital has benefited the MBA Studentsat MIT? Thanks.
Becca -Admissions: Daidi, we are not looking at IR at this timesince now everyone has a score
Sameed: Hello Becca, you mentioned we should think of examples not mentioned inour application for our interview - is it because the same people who read ourapplication conduct the interview? Thank you very much
Becca -Admissions: AKopy, you can see geography in ouremployment report:http://mitsloan.mit.edu/mba/career-support/employment-report/
Becca -Admissions: AGopal, yes, if we have the link, thatworks!
SLaoprapassorn557a4d: Are there any student-run classes at Sloan? I mean ones where students candesign their own learning objectives and all, maybe with professors asadvisors.
Becca -Admissions: Hi vip, we have entrepreneurship withoutborders, G Lab, and numerous classes on innovation. Some aspects of classeswill focus on non-profits
SHongf855d1: Thanks Becca!
Becca -Admissions: Vip, all interviews are conducted byadmissions professionals and not alumni
Becca -Admissions: Vip, we do not report lowest scores
Becca -Admissions: iateadonut, chat is anonymous
Becca -Admissions: iateadonut, check out here:http://mitsloan.mit.edu/alumnimagazine/2013/spring/startup-files.php
vipf96778: Thanks for answering Becca
SKim933004: Hello, Ms Becca. AboutLegatum Fellowship, its deadline is Feb. 15. Is theacceptance of the Legatum Fellowship valid or considered only after I getaccepted? If not, are the applications of MIT Slaon and Legatum Fellowshipseparate?
H9D2L4235: Hi Becca, any advice on how to prepare for the interview?
DinaAd: Hi Becca! What percentage of students are moms with multiple children andwhat flexibility would the program provide if someone might have a child duringthe program?
Becca -Admissions: jfrank, sometimes we give conditionalacceptances where students may have to take calculus or micro. this is notalways the case, even if you have not taken a class, many factors go into thedecision. If given a conditional acceptance, class needs to be taken from anaccredited uni.
jfrankg1: Thanks Becca
Becca -Admissions: Hi Shong, yes, if you provided a link, youare all set
jsegal7: Hi Becca, thanks for answering our questions. I wanted to ask about theaction learning labs. How do you expect the selection of labs to change overtime? (Are these constantly evolving, or mostly fixed?)
DBoman038eef: Hi Becca, can you briefly discuss how international experience factorsinto your admissions process?
SHongf855d1: Thanks Becca!
Becca -Admissions: Hi bhavish, email adcom@sloan.mit.edu if youdo not know if your rec submitted. If they submitted late, that is not aproblem. You are considered for R2 but if they have not submitted yet, followup as soon as possible
vipf96778: Are references from a sloanie given higher weightage than others? I have afew people who can write positive references so wanted to understand if it canhelp
XHuangc7d3d5: Hi Becca, do youhave the list of the hub cities that you will conduct interviews at? (I am inSF Bay Area)
przemekj: Becca, how easy is for students to get an internship in their targetindustry? In my case I'm shifting careers from chemical industry to finance andwondered about the chances of getting an internship in a finance firm while atSloan;
MKottoor26a9e1: Hi Becca, Do Ad Coms take into account the age of the applicant at anypoint while making admission decisions? (I have seen articles on the web thatmentions older applicants being at disadvantage while applying for MBA)
sdakhil: Hello Becca! What advice do you have for re-applicants? What do you lookfor?
bhavishyavani: great! thanks Bexxa..
bhavishyavani: becca*
Becca -Admissions: Hi altermar, we do not give out specificdata of where people come from, but we accept people from all branches of govand all different non-profit work
Becca -Admissions: ADed, that is why MIT is a great choicebecause Sloan students collaborate with students from other programs oftenwhether it be in the classroom, at events, or in clubs
Becca -Admissions: Vip, yes, if invited to interview, you canattend a class through Ambassadors
altermar: Thank you again, Becca!
iateadonut: following up on Sdakhil's question; do you look at our old applications ifwe are re-applicants from several years ago?
Becca -Admissions: gaarons, we admits a small amount ofundergrads each year. We still need to review your past experiences in theapplicaiton (leadership, communication, etc)
Becca -Admissions: Bhav, we do not post average GRE scoressince we do not have a lot of data for the scores. I would look up what yourGRE score equivalent GMAT is to see if it falls in that average
vipd8559a: Do you see any applicant uses translated version of Recommendation?
Becca -Admissions: Ludena, MIT Sloan students can seek out theprogram, but we are not directly affiliated with it
nkamal123: Hi! I'm currently an undergraduate senior studyingpolitical science and I was wondering whether I can take the calculus andstatistics courses on a pass/fail basis rather than a letter grade because I don'twant to adversely affect my GPA
cbalouzian: Hi Becca, if an applicant is invited for an interview, how long/flexibleis the window for completing interviews (i.e. if someone has a busy workschedule)?
Becca -Admissions: Sameed, you should assume the interviewerhas read your complete application, yes.
ADed4f02f: thanks Becca..
ludena: Thanks again Becca.
RSinha54a303: Hi Becca,i have a question. I have low gmat score but I have 12+ years ofexperience in IT (SAP). Does the low GMAT decrease my chances to admission
Becca -Admissions: Slaoprap, yes, student-run classes are knownas study tours. if a student has a topic in mind, they work with a professorand Student Life.
Becca -Admissions: SKim, acceptances for Sloan and Legatum areseperate
bhavishyavani: Thanks Becca!
Becca -Admissions: H9, advice for interview is be confident, review your application, think of new examples, and be you!
SKim933004: Thanks Becca. Then the acceptance of Legatum
Becca -Admissions: Dina, I do not know how many students aremoms, but we have quite a few. Feel free to reach out to Sloan Moms and DadsClubs
Becca -Admissions: Jsegal, many of the labs are fixed but theprojects vary each semester. Some new labs may be added
Becca -Admissions: DBoman, international experience is onefactor of many. We want a diverse class
SKim933004: Will the acceptance of Legatum increase the probability of acceptance?
Becca -Admissions: Vip, the best official recommenders are oneswho know you best, regardless if they are Sloanies
DinaAd: Thanks Becca!
Becca -Admissions: XHuangs, we will definitely be on the WestCoast for interviews
RSinha54a303: Hi Becca,i have a question. I have low gmat score but I have 12+ years ofexperience in IT (SAP). Does the low GMAT decrease my chances to admission?Ihave a good international exposure and I work in SAP.
daidi_87629: What's the size of incoming full-time MBA class for 2014 fall, and thepercentage of international students?
iateadonut: Dina, I have children also. Becca gave us this email addressbefore:sloanmoms@sloan.mit.edu - I've shot a quick email to them already.
Becca -Admissions: Przemek, it varies. you would work with thecareer Development Office from day 1 and speak about your goals. Some parts of financelike PE are harder to get into than others
XHuangc7d3d5: Great. Thank you Becca!
aho728: Hi Becca, do you conduct interviews in Europe?
Sameed: Great, thank you Becca. Another question, what is the success rate forapplicants trying to break Finance jobs such as Investment Banking?
Becca -Admissions: mKotto, no, we do not take age intoconsideration. We do ask about years of work experience
przemekj: thank you for youre response
Becca -Admissions: Sdakhil, re-applicants should show how theyahve changed since applying. give more examples of personal attributes
Becca -Admissions: iateadonut, you are only considered are-applicant if you applied the previous year
DinaAd: Thanks iateadonut!
Becca -Admissions: Vip, yes, recommendations must be in English
shanmukha.sreenivas: I am an MSMS applicant. I would be completing 1 year of experience by thetime decisions are announced for the MSMS program. Would this be a cause ofconcern ? And would there be any chat event for MSMS program applicants ?
Becca -Admissions: nkama, yes, you can tell us you passed thecourse vs a grade
sdakhil: Thanks Becca
altermar: Becca, how feasible is it for Sloan students to find the time to volunteer(I know that's a bizarre question but I work with children now and just cannotimagine giving it up)?
SKim933004: Can you tell how many start-ups will actually start their businesses aftergraduation or during the course?
Becca -Admissions: Cbalouz, it depends which city you areinterviewing in. Some cities, we are only there for 2-3 days, Cambridge offersthe most flexibility
cbalouzian: Becca, I am in New York City
Becca -Admissions: RSing, GMAT is only one factor in theapplication, other aspects can outweigh a low score
vipd8559a: My recommender used translated version and also used original letter inother than English hope that is fine?
Becca -Admissions: SKim, no Legatum acceptance does notincrease Sloan acceptance
MKottoor26a9e1: Thanks again Becca...
Becca -Admissions: Dadi, class size is around 404 and 40%international
SKim933004: Thanks, Becca.
Becca -Admissions: Aho, yes, we conduct interviews in Europe, usually London and Paris, but it varies round from round
Becca -Admissions: Sameed, success rate is high but it takeswork. You will work with CDO immediately and tell them your goals
Becca -Admissions: Shanmuka, this is a MBA chat, please emailmsmsadcom@sloan.mit.edu
saukamdar: Becca, how much involved are second year students with first year? andwhat avenues are available for first year students to interact with second yearregarding academics, career goals etc.
jackcn: Becca, This is Jack(Xiaodong) Ren from Beijing. I applied for round 2. MITis my ideal school. If I have new work performance, can I write emails toadmissions to update my status?
Sameed: Thanks a lot.
Becca -Admissions: Altermar, many students volunteer so itreally depends on what type. Sloan students say that you can find the time forwhat you are passionate about
Rajat.Gulati: Becca, have you ever accepted students who are (just) above 40?
altermar: Thank you, Becca. That's reassuring!
RSinha54a303: what is the average age of students in full time MBA and what will beaverage work experience
Becca -Admissions: SKim, some people begin heir start-ups whileat Sloan while others may take a job and do it on a side. it varies
Becca -Admissions: Vip, that is not a problem as long as wehave English
nkamal123: So becca, how much does work experience play into admission decisions, especially for seniors in undergraduate programs? I know work experience is notrequired, so does a strong academic record offset the lack of work experience? If I am not accepted to Sloan the first time I apply (due to a low GPA or testscore) would my chances of acceptance increase if I gained say a year of workexperience and then re-applied?
PClifford1c322e: Hi Becca, my name is Patrick and I am a round 2 applicant. Part of theappeal of MIT Sloan to me is its significant international student demographic. Can you talk a little about how the many different cultures interact at Sloan? Thanks in advance!

SKim933004: Thanks again, Becca.
Becca -Admissions: Sauk, second years are usually involved withfirst years in clubs and during the second semester. You will meet many secondyears!
jackcn: Becca, because my wife would come with me to MIT, I would like to ask howmany students in Sloan are married?
iateadonut: 早上好,北京!
cyberbg: For recommendations, all else equal, do you prefer (i) a current boss andan old boss or (ii) a current boss and someone who knows me from outside of theworkspace?

Becca -Admissions: Rshina, 27-28 with 5 years
daidi_87629: Hi Becca, can I know how many offers have you already sent out for theearlier rounds, eg. R1? Thank you.
EErderf2ed14: Hi Becca, a question that's on my mind: How much emphasis does the SloanAdCom put on pedigree names in an application, be that undergrad school or workexperience?
saukamdar: Thanks for the response
Becca -Admissions: PCliffor, 40% of students are international,we have many cultural clubs, and different labs, treks, and tours allow you totravel. many Sloan students visit multiple countries during their time

XHuangc7d3d5: Hi Becca, for the interview, I assume the recommended dress code is businessformal, right? (because I heard some schools may recommend business casual)
jackcn: Becca, thanks. I expect new life in MIT with my wife.
Becca -Admissions: Dina, we may act you to take a quant classbefore and have bootcamps before core semester. Your core team would also help
Becca -Admissions: Daidi, we cannot give numbers
damitha.pathmalal(在) gmail.com: I'm round 2 applicant. When do you typically send out interviewinvitations?
EErderf2ed14: Hi Becca, sorry if this is a double-post but I can't find me previousmessage: How much emphasis is put on pedigree names on an applicants resume?I've heard that quite some schools put big emphasis on the undergrad school'sname and previous employers and therefore "deduct points" if anapplicant doesn't have these names on his/her resume. How does Sloan compare inyour opinion?
Becca -Admissions: EErder, we take a holistic approach and lookat different levels of school and companies
Becca -Admissions: XHuang, business formal, yes

Becca -Admissions: EErderf, you do not lose points for nothaving a specific school or company
KJha19c0a8: Following up from Cyber's questions regarding recommendations - is arecommendation from a colleague at a part-time Non profit organization (that ihave been involved with) acceptable?
RMamajonov95d52f: Dear Becca, how important the AWAscore of the GMAT is? 4.0 is enough or weshouldimprove it?
Becca -Admissions: KJha, yes, it is acceptable as long as it isprofessional
Becca -Admissions: RMama, I would not focus on AWA score aslong as your overall score is around our average
carlchoi: Hello Becca, could you tell me how MIT would help building a careertowards venture capital?
RMamajonov95d52f: Thank you for your response, Becca.
altermar: Thank you for your time, Becca

damitha.pathmalal(在) gmail.com: If I have to reapply. Do you take weigh current/previous application withthe new one? Or do you take a fresh look?
