Colleges or Universities should offer more courses to prepare for the future before they start working?
A young man leaves the university merely with his specialized knowledge to search for a job, which he wishes will guarantee him a satisfying salary. But to his disappointment, he gets nothing. This is a fairly common phenomenon in China, which strongly encourages me to agree with the statement. What students acquire from the university is simply a systematic accumulation of knowledge, which cannot be applied to practical life. Students need more information about the selection of their future job, and more skills to adapt to this fast-developing society.
Colleges and universities ought to offer more diverse courses to help students find their favorite job. Most of us, college students, including me, have no idea what our favorite job is. We endeavor to figure out what's best for us, in order that we can have a solitary goal about our future. However, we don't have the professionals to help us. Obviously, universities can give us a hand. A friend of mine, whose major in university is biology, once he attended a conference about finance held by his university, which made him determine to give up his majority instead of applying for finance. His amazing story impresses me a lot, which also offers me enormous confidence to find my real interest.
As soon as students find their suitable job, what they need most is the skills for applications, interviews, etc. Most students, nowadays, lack the ability to make excellent applications and to perform well in interviews. It is a great pity to lose a dream job just because of the poor applications or bad interviews, isn't it? I believe that if they get the opportunity to learn more about these skills, they would do their utmost to practice and then they will be more likely to get a fantastic job.
Finally, let us presume that students all get their favorite jobs, the problem now facing them is what is going to do to improve their working ability? Even if, to some extent, they have acquired certain sense of cooperation by doing teamwork universities, or they get along well with their fellow classmates, or they always put everything on schedule, they still need suggestions. In my opinion, courses like time management and human resources should be offered to students. My Human Resources teacher, who I admire a lot, keeps telling us that everything is far more complicated than we have known and imagined. She maintains that the need for getting adequate knowledge, and for developing an outgoing personality is essential.
Consequently, it is both good for universities and students if a number of specified courses relating to upcoming job are offered. In terms of universities, more their students do their dream jobs, more highly the reputation they get. For students, doing what they like is probably the most lovely thing in the world. All this reminds me of taking some courses to find my passion and get some kind of skill before graduating.
