Thanks for your advice. Yet I list my own and other people's personal experience as reference.

Essays/recommendations/resumes don't require the quality of rhetoric, but they do require logic and arrangements. Others do need to see your future career planning, how bold your imagination is and how you'll use your very specific skills to make that into reality.

I guess both of us have written lots of papers and have been enlisted as academic society members, so stop doing it the dirty way. Yes, nobody dare to guarantee how accurate is, yet as I said, it's better than asking other people even without admission experience to judge your possibility. If you really like quant, the difference between good and bad essays will make a slightly higher than 10% difference in your application. I guess nobody will deny that.

In this calculator, essays/recommendations/resumes and online application forms will make a difference of 20 points combined, for an applicant in the top tier range, that's likely 30% of the application package, which is not surprising at all

其实我觉得公司加分少是有一定道理的。
公司毕竟只是个名号，名号本身的价值非常有限。而真正这些大牛公司的员工，其他背景统统不会弱，相比于公司的名号本身，其他的背景更能代表申请人的综合素质。essay反而能更好的反映出非大牛背景和出身，但经历足够丰富和有价值的申请人的素质。
