请拍,请狠拍!
The lecture focuses on convincing people that although genetically modified trees have some advantages, they exist some serious problem as well.
First and foremost, it seems specious that genetically modified trees are hardier than nature trees when they encounter damages from pest or virus, however, genetically modified trees cannot ensure their survive when they put into the real nature. Unmodified trees maybe destroyed by some certain damages, but because of their diverse gene there always some of them survived. But when genetically modified trees meet some difficulties they are not designed to resist, they will all die out. This is to say genetically modified trees are not more likely to survive than their unmodified counterparts.
In addition, although genetically modified trees grow faster, give greater yields of products, they do not let farmers who grow them get more economic benefits. It is because the policy of growing of the genetically modified trees. The seeds of these trees are 10 times more expensive than those of the unmodified ones. What's more, farmer cannot use the seeds from the trees they grew last year, and they must pay a large amount of money to the seeds company. So conclusion can be drawn that genetically modified trees cannot promise the economic benefits.
The last but not the least. Genetically modified trees cannot protect the nature trees from forests but may damage them. Because of their predominance of grow, they will be a large competent of nature resources. And the nature trees would be crowded out.
