When I was a child, my parentssent me to my grandpa’s every summer. The children of my age in the town askedme to join them. We made plans together to catch fish in the river, buildminiature houses for our toys and so on. On the contrary, in city life most childrenhave to stay alone in the spare time because their parents are busy and theyare not allowed to play outside for the safety’s concern.
Another crucial advantage of living in countrysideis that thanks to the frequent outdoor games, children in countryside areinclined to be healthier than those in big city. A physical research hasrevealed that the more bacteria children are exposed to, the stronger theirimmune system is. Obviously the environment in city is much cleaner than thatof countryside, but it is not good but harm to children’s immunity to preventdiseases.
Furthermore, living in the countryside gives childrena plenty of free time to learn whatever interests them, which assists childrento find the field that they are initially good at. My cousin is brought up inBeijing, the capital of China. Her spare time is filled up with dance class,painting class and piano class. She always complained to me how boring theclasses were and how annoyed she was because she didn’t want to learn those atall. What if she spends the time doing things that she thinks interesting? Thiscase is not rare in the life of city children. Being pushed to learn is farless efficient than learning with passion.
Admittedly, city life enables children tohave expanded horizon and access to new technology. But its disadvantages outweighthe advantages. Owning free time, frequent outdoor sports and a group ofplaymates turns a person’s childhood into the most valuable time in his or herlife.
