如题，感谢各位G友（念着好别扭~）
Although the first pulsar, or rapidly spinning collapsed star, to be sighted was  in the summer of 1976 by graduate student JB, it had not been announced until February 1968.

不明白为什么E中'while’，OG的解释是‘while indicates simultaneous events, but the sentence is about eventsthat occurred in a sequence.',但是为什么'while'表明转折，当做’然而‘讲呢？

这里主要的错误是it指代不清，或者说，the first sighted pulsar不能够被announced，只有discovery才能被announced，it应该是指代the discovery的
不需要考虑到while的那个牛角尖

while作为转折最好还是包括有同时的意思的，既然OA是这么解释的，那就这么理解好了。

E选项 The first sighted pulsar, or rapidly spinning collapsed star, was was not announced until February 1968, while it was observed in the summer of 1976 by graduate student JB.

it指代的是前半分句中的pulsar,指代很清晰，只是不够make sense，但这一点并不是OG否决这个选项的原因。
E项的关键点是while在的这里的用法不符合作者想要说的事件发生顺序。

while 作连词引导从句有3种用法：
1)while 作连词表示两件事同时发生，就是simulaltaneous event
2)while 引导让步状语从句，表示“尽管，虽然”
3)while 作并列连词，表示前后意义上面的对比和转折。

楼主就是（3）的用法很混淆吧。while表转折的时候要求前后两者在意义上是平行的，或者说是可以比较的，while在这里暗含了比较意味,而且使用while表转折时，两个分句一般都具有相反或者矛盾的意义。例如，He is tall, while she is short. 高和矮是相反的，或者， The news, so far, has been good, while there may be days ahead when it is bad. 消息的好和坏是相反的。而E选项中不存在比较和并列，也没有相反的意思，while表转折的用法在这里不适用。楼主提到的“然而”的意思在这里应该用But。"while"的转折和"but"的转折是不同的。

while表事情发展顺序的时候就是第一种用法，同时发生。显然宣布这颗星和发现这颗星两者是在不同时间发生的嘛，while就是这里错了。
